5 Steps to a Winning Social Media Marketing Plan

PrintWhat is the single most important action you can take to improve your chances of success in implementing a social media campaign? Create a well-researched and carefully thought out social media marketing plan, which lays the foundation for executing a winning social media campaign. Although there is no concrete roadmap to crafting an effective social media marketing plan, there are guideposts that can direct you along the way. The following 5 Steps provide the guidance you will need to develop a successful social media marketing plan.

Step 1: Establish Definitive and Measurable Goals. Social media marketing goals include, improving brand awareness, search engine rankings, relevant site traffic, and conversions performance (e.g., sales for a product or service), as well as reputation management and engaging with consumers.

The challenge for some of these goals, such as engaging with consumers, is to make them specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely (SMART). In addition, objectives must be established for each type of social media platform in order to maximize results. The following are examples of SMART goals for four popular social media platforms: blogs, microblogs (Twitter), social networking sites, as well as image and video sharing sites:

Blogs:

  • 20% improvement in the ratio of posts to comments (i.e., visitor’s comments/posts=conversions) within six months
  • 30% increase in total number of unique visitors within six months
  • 20% increase in average number of unique visitors within six months
  • 40% growth in total number of views within six months
  • 10% growth of RSS subscribers within six months
  • 5% growth of RSS feed requests within six months

Microblogs (Twitter):

  • 20% growth in number of followers within 30 days
  • 30% growth in the number of retweets (message amplification) within 30 days
  • 10% increase in click-through-rate (CTR) of the links posted in tweets within 30 days (Hint: Observing which types of links garner the highest CTRs can help you tune your tweets to provide what your consumers with links they are interested in and, hence, further improve your CTR.
  • 15% increase in visits to Web site from tweet links within 30 days
  • 10% growth in time on Web site from tweet links within 30 days
  • 5% increase in Web site conversions (e.g., sales) from tweet links within 30 days

Social Networking Sites:

  • 20% growth in the number of friends within five months
  • 30% growth in the number of comments within five months
  • 40% growth in the number of posts and comments in discussion groups within five months
  • 20% increase in the ratio of comments on uploaded videos to number of videos uploaded within five months
  • 20% increase in the ratio of comments on photos uploaded to number of photos uploaded within five months
  • 30% growth in the number of comments left on profiles within five months
  • 50% growth in the number of questions answered or asked within five months

Image and Video Sharing Sites:

  • 30% growth in the number of images or videos viewed within four months
  • 20% growth in the number of unique visitors within four months
  • 10% increase in the number of subscribers to your channel or stream within four months
  • 30% increase in the ratio of comments on images or videos to the number of images or videos uploaded within four months
  • 15% growth in the number of embedded links to your images or videos (i.e., links from other sites to your images or videos) within four months
  • 30% increase in average rankings of images or videos by viewers within four months

Step 2: Identify Your Target Market Who is your intended audience (target market)? Where do they hangout on the social Web? How do they participating on these social media platforms? Forrester Research’s “Social Technographics Profile” enables you to use age, location, and gender to identify the type of activity people are engaged in on the social Web, such as create content, critique, collect, spectate, and so on. Depending on what they do, you can determine which social media platform they are likely to frequent. As an example, spectators are not likely to participate in social network like Facebook or LinkedIn, while they might watch YouTube videos and read blogs, but not comment on the posts.

Step 3: Conduct a Competitive Analysis. What are the trends in social media (i.e., which platforms are growing, which are declining?). What needs are not being meet by your competitors? Who will be your main competitors? What are the best practices in social media marketing? Conduct a SWOT Analysis, identifying your company’s strengths, weaknesses, along with the opportunities and threats in the marketplace and economy.

Step 4: Design innovative strategies. Select the optimal social media platforms to reach your target market. Then, construct a specialized strategy for each social media platform to achieve the tailored goals for each platform. Each social media medium has distinctive features and means of communication. For example, a corporate blog strategy will differ markedly from the strategy you use to achieve your goals on social network like LinkedIn. In other words, a one-sized strategy doesn’t fit all.

Hence, you must adjust the following 8 C’s of the Social Media Marketing Mix for each social media platform. Here are some suggestions on how to accomplish this feat:

  • Categorize social media platforms by target market relevancy(i.e., the ones where your target audience resides)
  • Comprehend the “rules of the road” on the platform by listening and learning how to behave, successfully spark conversation, and engage and energize the participants
  • Converse by acknowledging and responding to other users of the platform, always remembering to be a contributor, not a promoter
  • Collaborate with platform members as a means of establishing a mutually beneficial relationships with the platform participants
  • Contribute contentto build your reputation and become a valued member, helping to build the community
  • Connect with the influencers, so you can enlist them to help shape opinions about your product or service
  • Community creation enables you to build discussion forums where consumers suggest ideas and receive customer support
  • Conversion of strategy execution into desired outcomes (e.g., increased brand awareness, website traffic, sales, etc.)

Step 5: Monitor, Measure, and Tune. Accessing your progress, then tune your marketing plan based on the feedback to optimize goal achievement. Reevaluate and adjust your social media marketing plan to account for the ever changing nature of consumer tastes and the social Web. For example, if the number of viewers and subscribers to your blog are declining, you can adjust your content to more closely match your target market’s interests. If the number of comments on your blog posts is declining, you can adjust your strategy by asking a question at the end of each post that inspires people to respond. In short, planning and executing a social media marketing campaign is a never ending cycle. You should constantly monitor and tune your strategies to maximize the impact of your campaign.

Successful Search Engine Optimization

Countless website owners are under the impression that when they submit their webpages to the search engine they will have immediate success. While it is possible, it is not the general rule. The submission alone does not guarantee hits to your site. Search engine optimization (SEO) is vital to the success of your web pages.

Search engine optimization is defined as the strategy of making web pages attractive to the search engines. The goal of SEO is to get your website ranked on the first page of hits for internet searches. What is the big deal about being on the first page? It’s critical as the typical internet searcher does not click on any of the sites beyond the first page. Why search beyond the first page when you can’t see the results on the second or third pages? The results for your business are astounding when you are ranked on the first page versus the second or third.

So if it is so critical to be on the first page, then why wouldn’t you attempt to get there? There are a few key reasons why people avoid recreating their websites for optimal ranking.

1) It’s Too Difficult

There is a large group of people who believe that it’s just too difficult to learn SEO. Many people feel that search engine optimization is only utilized and effective for the large website owners but not for theirs. Search engine optimization is not as hard to learn as some are lead to believe. When it has such a positive affect, why wouldn’t you take the time to learn it?

2) The Learning Curve Is Too High

Some people think that there is just too much to learn to ever be able to search engine optimize. The process is just like any other. When you begin you will know absolutely nothing. With some training and a little bit of trial and error, you will get a grip on what is needed to get your webpage ranked highly.

3) It’ll Take Too Much Time

For all of those that think that search engine optimization will take too much time, they need to focus on the benefits. If your sales are increased 10 fold by getting your website optimized, then isn’t that time well spent? If you want something in life, it is worth the effort required to achieve it. So if you want success, it will take some time to learn SEO properly. Once you learn the topic though, you will be surprised at what little time it takes to stay on top.

It will require some dedication and failure before success in optimizing your site. When you reap the rewards of so much targeted traffic, all of the work involved to get there will seem irrelevant. As we all knowBusiness Management Articles, more traffic means more sales.

Why Website Ranking Fail In Google Search Engine

seo-smo-services-in-chennaiLooking behind Google’s main purpose – their reason for being. When you understand this, it becomes much easier to develop content that keeps you at the top of the rankings. But to looking to that point, you’ll need to be aware of some of the most recent changes that Google has made to their service.

1. Time spent on a page

If you need bad content, your reader will know right away that it is not what he is searching for. That’s why you could need 60,000 unique visits one month but still be down in the rankings. The time people spend on a specific web page shows that they need a certain degree of value in that selection. When Google sees that people are consistently spending five minutes or more on a piece of content, they will judge that content as highly regarded by the general web user for the topic it is optimized for. The more of those kinds of visits that you have, the better off you will be.

2. User likes and dislikes

Google has started to give users the option of ranking the content they need read, integrating with Google Plus and other social networking platforms to ensure that what is being ranked is truly valuable to the persons, who encounter it. Google has made this move because there was too much content out there that could hit the right degree of keyword algorithms without adding anything new or beneficial to the overall conversation. As a result, a large number sites need taken a hit as of late, but they need also had their eyes opened to opportunities. It has really reinforced that a user must be passionate about what they are writing about. If they’re not, they need to make sure they’re hiring people to write the content, who are. As a result, the site owner gets better content, the writer or content developer gets better paying jobs, and the user gets a more worthwhile experience.

3. Relevance of tags to actual content

Instead of keyword stuffing sites must now actually offer something of value that is represented in a straight forward and compelling manner. If your content is not doing thisFeature Articles, then that is probably the reason why your web page ranking has failed in the Google google search engine. Learn from your mistakes and move on with better content.

SEO atau Search Engine Optimization Dijelaskan

social_media-t2Now you’re going to want to know what I mean by “organic search results”, aren’t you? Organic search results are Non-Sponsored results that appear in the left middle of a Search Engine Result’s Page. (SERP) (It took me a long time to “get” that one!). Basically, it’s indexing for FREE., unlike the PPC ads and the sponsored ads. Organic search results are great because:

  • It’s Free
  • It’s high quality traffic
  • It’s can be a LOT of traffic

Search engine are constantly changing their algorithms – the method by which they search the internet, a website and determine it’s relevancy based on the sites keywords. No one has yet to really figure out these algorithms as they are changed often, sometimes in just a matter of days.

All is NOT hopelessHealth Fitness Articles, however. You can make very educated guesses by studying websites that are already ranked high in the search engines. You can test your own website by making small changes and watching the ranking in the SERP. Switch your keywords around – or your content. But do only one method at a time so that you know which one is best!

Factors that are known to affect search engine ranking:

  • Keyword in the page title
  • Keyword META tags
  • Keyword in description META tags
  • Keyword in first sentence of content
  • 3-5 per cent keyword density in the page content. More might get you a Google slap – less might get you ignored
  • Keyword as internal anchor text – don’t use “click here” use your main keyword (did you know that if you type “click here” into a Google search box you’ll get over 2 BILLION results?)
  • Backlinks – you will want as many backlinks from high page rank sites as you can. The easiest and often the most effective method of getting backlinks is to write articles and link to your site.

Page rank is a number (0-10 per Google) that is assigned to a website that provides some insight to its’ “importance” on the internet – per Google! O is of least importance and 10 the highest. A ranking of 1 or 2 is not to difficult to attain – sometimes all it takes is time. A ranking of 3-4 will take a bit of work and 4-5 is pretty darn good. A ranking of 7-8 will take a LOT of work and 9-10 is almost always the search engines themselves. The biggest factor in determining page rank is backlinks!

As you can see there are many factors that contribute to your websites “importance” and getting them on the SERP. Keep working at a little bit at a time and don’t give up – you’ll eventually get there if you have all the “factors” in place correctly.

Seo Optimization For Website and Keyword Searches

seo-servicesOne of the most common misconceptions about conducting keyword research for a search engine optimization campaign is the belief that you already know which terms a customer would use to find your site. When it comes to finding what you want, you have to know a little about keyword searches and how to word your request. We know that keyword searches are vastly different from how we speak, and this causes some people to miss out on finding the right information. When the search engines look for what you are asking for, they look for the keywords, and the order in which you list them will have an impact on what results you are offered.

Yeah, it’s true that some keyword searches are simple. If you want find out about The Wiggles, the words “the wiggles” will give you what you want. Let say here that if you want to find out more about Anthony Field of the Wiggles, you need to adjust your keyword searches. You may instead want to search for “Anthony Field Wiggles” or for “Wiggles Anthony Field”. You may be surprised to see that just switching the order of the words yields you different results.

Well, the initial idea of keyword research can be daunting. Trying to come up with the perfect combination of words to drive customers to your site, rev up your conversion rate and allow the engines to see you as an expert would easily give anyone a tension headache. Building your site to target these key words is called SEO Optimization and is now used by most sites to attempt to get the most traffic.

Apparently, if you are looking for even more specific information, you have to fine-tune your keyword searches even more. For the purposes of keyword searches, however, it makes perfect sense to the search engine, and you may get exactly what you want with that search, and you will get it quickly. Often we find pages of advertisements instead of good information on the subject we’re researching. Why is this and how can we avoid this dilemma?

Another thing here is, if you are having trouble with your keyword searches, try to be more specific, but remember to think of what you want as you search. Be as specific as possible, but remember that being too specific may limit what you find and you may come up empty handed. Search engine programmers are constantly trying to keep up with how people search, and always working to make things easier for you to find your information. Most search engines have tips for keyword searches, so if you are having trouble, this may be a great place to look for help.

Another idea that is very simple is to type in your search request in quotations like this: ”Australian Cattle Dogs”. Otherwise the information generated will show up as the separate words bringing up all things having to do with Australians, cattle, and dogs instead of the total phrase Australian Cattle Dogs.

Some additional option for finding information with a keyword search tool is to use more than one search engine. Some search engines like Google are handy for a miscellaneous, general search. Other search engines like Dogpile will give you a mixture of findings in some of the most popular search engines like Yahoo and Google.

It used to be the case that if someone wants their website to be entered into a search engine, they need to pay a fee for the privilege. Those days are over unless you want to run ads on the search engines. The sites that are advertising products for sale will usually have more money and hence will be willing to pay a higher price to be ones who are first listed in a keyword search. You can’t avoid this problem but there are some ways you can employ a keyword search tool to help you find the information you need.

For those who have a detailed subject, and want to find search engine that is specific to the topic you are researching. One such search engine is Education World. Education World is a keyword search tool created expressly for teachers. So if you are an educator and are looking for information that that is specific to your discipline, this engine could be helpful for you.

FinallyPsychology Articles, the last and most valuable piece of information is to remember the old adage about computers: garbage in garbage out. The information you glean from your computer is only as good as your keyword search tool methods. It’s important to keep monitoring your keywords and make tweaks as necessary. Doing so will allow you to stay ahead of your competition and keep moving forward.

Get Social Media Sites To Link

maximizing-social-media-to-improve-your-website-s-seoYou may have heard about social networking or social media marketing. These are basically websites that you can use to give people information about your site and do so in a way that you can targeted traffic back to your site. The best way to learn this social marketing is to actually do this yourself on your site.

The first thing to do is to compose your article, your blog post, or your web page. You can use any number of free websites to create your content. This is the first thing that needs to happen before you’ll get the benefits of social networking for your site specifically. You can always start with other people’s websites or web pages, but typically you’ll get the most benefit by doing some of both.

Once you’re ready to go with your blog post or article, you’ll need to setup new accounts with the social bookmarking sites you can find on socialmarker.com. The advantage of using a service like this is that you’ll be able to bookmark your articles or blog posts with one main website instead of having to repeat the process and visit multiple websites with each bookmarking process.

The title should have your main keyword phrase and the title of your blog post or article. These may match some of the time, or most of the time, but when you don’t have the keyword, add it unless it makes the keyword too long.

The description is another part of using socialmarker.com. Use this description as a strong call to action to get people to your website. You obviously don’t want to deceive people into visiting by promising them something that isn’t there, but make sure that in the description, you give a compelling reason for people to want to read more or find out more information.

You’ll be prompted for your web address which you’ll need to supply. Just make sure this is the web address for the exact page that you’re trying to get ranked or “deep linked”. If you use the main domain instead of the specific article or blog post page, you’ll get those links blocked because they’ll be duplicates. Basically, make sure you’re bookmarking only individual pages assuming you’ve already added bookmarks for the main domain using your most appropriate keyword phrase for the entire site.

Tags are another thing you’ll be prompted for when bookmarking your sites. These tags are basically keywords, usually 1-2 word keyword phrases that can be used to identify relatively broadly the article or blog post. As tagsFree Web Content, you should use both a main keyword phrase that you’re trying to get ranked as well as some of the more broad keyword phrases that better represent what people on these social bookmarking sites will actually search for. These sites are a lot like a search engines that people use to find very relevant updated content on their search topics.

These are some relatively easy ways to get traffic back to your website. One of the things about this is that it becomes difficult to stay organized. I personally don’t try too hard to stay organized on this as I do have analytics installed on my website so I can track where most of my traffic comes from. You’ll tend to see patterns that some sites will work better than others at generating traffic.
